Wrong result from Array.Max()

I’m trying to do the most basic thing ever: get the max value from an array (no built in functions), but keep on getting the right value from first values, but wrong value for other.
What is the problem with this code?:
int[] ar = new int[] { 10, 5, 6, 5, 2 };
int maxValue = ar.Max();

The first four values should be 5, but I’m getting 5 from ar[0]

Array.Max() is not the way to go, since it will also return the max of the values in the array and not just the max of the array’s elements.
You could use LINQ:
int max = ar.Max();

Or, you could use a foreach loop (you can also use a for loop), something like this:
int max = 0;
foreach (int x in ar)
{
if (x > max)
max = x;
}

Or, you could just use the Math.Max method of the List class, but then you’ll need an ordered collection:
int max = ar.OrderBy(x => x).Select(x => x).First();

One possible reason for your behaviour is that you’re accessing the array before all elements have been initialised. If ar is a zero-length array, this
